The candidate will be a focused technology specialist with in-depth experience of key device platforms, technology solutions and, critically, live operational deployments and device management within the company. The candidate will deliver continuous improvements to our platform and services to ensure that we deliver a great user experience while meeting appropriate levels of device and information security. Focus will predominantly be on the Citrix platform, but needs to be flexible to expand to other platforms if required.
Service design and implementation of virtualization based on cloud hosted solution
Virtualization lifecycle management, including assessment, design, implementation and BAU support
Migration of data center-hosted Citrix infrastructure to cloud hosting service (AWS/Azure)
Implementation of technology deployments, operating system builds, software distributions, software upgrades, patching and other end user system updates across the managed device estate.
Implementation of solutions to automate systems and processes.
Provide expert level support to the Design and Global Operations teams with respect to end user devices and associated capability both within educational establishments and throughout Pearson.
Create and maintain operating system builds, equipment standards and supporting documentation for users.
Management of incident, problem and change requests to ensure Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets are met.
Autonomously deliver projects as directed by line management to agreed timescales, cost and quality
Prioritize workflows, recommend key decisions, and manage assigned project communication to team via team meetings and line management
Maintain technology, processes and policies to enable the use of employee owned devices securely on the company network
Publish informative communications to C-level through end users,ensuring appropriate and effectiveness in coordination with other members of Pearson Technology Operations and clients in their business areas.
Skills and Abilities (Minimum):
In-depth technical knowledge and at least 10 years’ experience of:
Excellent proven implementation record of complex, highly available scalable Citrix 7.x environments.
Advanced understanding and administration of Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop 6.x and 7.x
Advanced Ivanti DesktopNowAppsense Desktop Now experience including Personalisation, EM, AM and PM
Advanced Citrix Provisioning Services 6.x and 7.15 or higherx
Ability to update multiple PVS Images and experience with PVS Versioning
Experience with Microsoft App-V Packaging 4.x/5.x and deployment of packages in App-V
Citrix Storefront 3.x
Operating System Build Engineering, unit testing, L3 technical support, root cause analysis and release management
Microsoft Windows (Version 7, 10 and above)
Active Directory Group Policy
Large scale application deployments and customisations for Citrix environments
Scripting PowerShell or VBScript
Experience delivering global change in an ITIL managed environment.
User Acceptance Testing
Skills and Abilities (Desirable):
Preference would be given to candidates with one or more of the following skills:
VDI Type 1 and 2 (Hyper-V, Parallels, VMware Fusion, Virtual Box, ESXi)
Antivirus endpoint security solutions, Symantec Endpoint Protection or equivalent
SCCM 2012, OSD and Application Management
Privilege Management systems, Avecto Privilege Guard or equivalent
O365 and Google Apps
XML, REST APIs, JSON, SQL, .Net, Bash, Python, Perl
Must have excellent verbal & written communication skills
Ability to collaborate across globally dispersed teams
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to make calculated decisions and compromises in business critical situations
Expected to own tasks through to completion without supervision whilst managing customer and management expectations

Educational & Professional Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant field or have equivalent proven industry experience.
Recent Citrix and Microsoft Certifications or equivalent proven industry experience.
CCEE Citrix Certified Enterprise Engineer
CDCD Certified Data Center Design
CCA Citrix Netscaler Administration
CCIA Citrix Certified Integration Architect
CCEA Citrix Certified Enterprise Administrator for XenApp
CCA Citrix Certified Administrator for Metaframe XP Presentation Server
Net Comptia Network
ITIL Foundation 2 or higher is an advantage.
PRINCE2 or equivalent project management qualification or proven industry experience is an advantage
