We are seeking a dynamic individual with a strong technology and financial management background to help implement and operationalize a Technology Business Management solution designed to position executives with the knowledge to manage and communicate the cost, quality, and value of IT Services. As a Manager, Technology Business Management, you will join Pearson’s Information Technology to provide professional and consistent business planning and management services for Technology.


Key Responsibilities

  • Providing analytics services and continuous improvements to drive recommendations from the Apptio data

  • Point-of-contact for all business management information requests

  • Operate as an interpreter / coordinator for engaging all departments within Pearson

  • Developing, tracking and reporting on Apptio action plans

  • Management Reporting

  • Provide timely, accurate management, analysis and reporting of Technology Operations Apptio data

  • Accountable for the continued improvement to the quality of the Apptio data through leading initiatives to implement relevant changes to the current reporting

  • Develop and implement strategy and action plans to reduce data gaps and ensure efficient and effective use of data

  • Prepare performance reports and ad hoc requests

  • Business Communication

  • Oversight and leadership of business communication support for Technology Operations.

  • Develop and ensure the effective implementation of employee and change communication plans in support of executives and strategic programs / projects

  • Ensure strong partnership with Corporate Communications,

  • Human Resources and other Technology Communication Groups

  • Provide and coordinate communication and administration support for TO

  • Executive Town Halls, Offsite Updates and Leadership sessions.

  • Must have Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business, Management, or related field) but preferably an MBA or graduate degree in business related field

  • Must have a well-developed facilitation and presentational skills

  • Must have strong relationship management--Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, vendors and peers.

  • Must have extensive experience in planning: Tactical, Strategic--Ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical and strategic planning in support of the business plan.

  • Must have financial experience - familiarity with Budgetary Planning and Cost Reporting

  • Must have proven leadership experience - Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for gaining the cooperation and support of others.

  • Should have experience in managing in a Matrix Environment--Ability to build and use effective working relationships within own department and across line, functional and geographic reporting lines.

  • Should have well-developed decision making and critical thinking- Knowledge of tools and techniques for effective use of a broad range of factors, assumptions, frameworks and perspectives when solving problems.

  • Must have proven industry experience in business management

  • Must have proven experience in the information technology and/or financial services industries

  • Should have proven technical experience in management accounting and in computer application systems

  • Should have the ability to resolve complex factual and procedural issues

  • Must be able to provide business/financial advice to executives, controllers and directors on business management related matters
