The Senior Business Analyst works closely with Business and Functional personnel to evaluate drivers and complex technology requirements, and defines complex systems strategies and specifications tailored to meet business requirements. The Senior Business Analyst acts as a primary point of contact with the business on behalf of the application development organization. In this capacity, the Senior Business analyst is also a leader for change and process improvement. Additionally, the incumbent participates in system testing, training, implementation and support. Coordinating and facilitating requirements to deliver a complete application service to the business.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely and interactively with the business as a primary point of contact for the complex application organization; develops and maintains understanding of key business drivers and impacts

  • Acting as liaison between business stakeholders, such as management, end users, and the software development or information technology team

  • Assists clients with identifying and solving business challenges

  • Facilitate analysis of complex functional requirements and design of technology specifications, working with business/functional personnel and capturing requirements through interactive sessions with clients

  • Work closely with application development personnel, working effectively in multiple delivery models (onsite, outsource, offshore), as appropriate

  • Contribute and provide guidance to Business and Functional Units in developing and completing system testing, training, and implementation-related activities

  • Produce thorough project documentation including process/solution designs, business requirements and testing plans to support the system development lifecycle

  • Verify end-to-end test plans, review test cases, and facilitate user acceptance testing to ensure planned changes meet business requirements while maintaining system integrity and reliability

  • Train and support end-users on system upgrades, new functionality and daily operation

  • Work closely with Project Manager, providing input into project planning, scheduling, and budgeting

  • Coordinate project activities and schedules with client in support of service delivery/project objectives

  • Use and advocate established standards, guidelines and tools; seek and introduce new tools and best practices as part of continuous improvement methodology.

  • Maintain relationships with vendors, consultants or contractors, and professional organizations to grow organizational knowledge of processes, software, and systems.

  • 4-year degree from an accredited institution in Business, Computer Science, OR appropriate combination of education and significant experience

Minimum Experience Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in a business systems analyst role leading the implementation of business critical technology solutions

  • 2 years’ experience in supporting a medium to large scale system

  • Proficiency working in Microsoft and Salesforce environment

  • Ability to work effectively in teams is required; includes instances where team membership spans multiple business units, locations or countries, and/or utilizes 3rd-party (offshore) resources.

  • Proficient with systems; enjoys working with new tools, works independently, takes ownership of tasks, processes and solutions

  • Able to work with senior management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems

  • Ability to lead projects and manage technology partner relationships

  • Strong listening, and oral/written communications skills, includes the ability to facilitate interactive sessions with business / functional personnel

  • Exceptional organization, problem solving, and analytical skills

  • Experience with systems development lifecycle and system management processes, including requirements management, design, configuration and user acceptance testing

  • Preferred experience supporting higher education institutions with knowledge of marketing, recruiting and student advising business processes and related systems
