Position Overview

We’re looking for an experienced and talented Senior Cloud Infrastructure Engineer to join the Pearson Cloud Services team at Pearson. In this role, you’ll be working on various projects for an array of applications taking advantage of emerging Cloud Technologies to provide improved application resiliency and the ability for customers to self-serve.

Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Possess the following qualities: mentoring and coaching, driving projects to completion, planning and architecting, and have excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Design, develop and deliver scalable and automated services and architecture - Infrastructure as code.

  • Architect, design and implement solutions with AWS Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), AWS Cloudfront and other AWS products

  • Ensure success in building and migrating applications, software, and services on the AWS platform

  • Develop APIs to simplify service consumption by end-users and engineers

  • Create software delivery pipelines for various enterprise customers and services

  • Enable resilience and high availability for numerous platforms, from bleeding-edge cloud applications to on-premise legacy environments

  • Ensure full-stack software solutions are architected and delivered using industry-leading DevOps best practices and technologies

  • Collaborate to define best practices and standards around DevOps and service resilience

  • Create reusable automation libraries that can be applied across the enterprise

  • Determine HA/DR, Security, Capacity, and Compliance strategies for existing and new applications

  • Develop usage standards, user self-service designs, and reporting on application KPIs

  • Create solutions to generate metrics to facilitate a deep understanding of the service

  • Optimize and support our existing public cloud and some data center based solutions and workloads in preparation for migration to the cloud

  • Participate in deep architectural discussions to ensure solutions are designed for successful deployment in the cloud

  • Troubleshoot production issues and perform on-call duties

  • Mentoring junior team members

  • Collaboration with other Technology groups within the organization

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Deals well with ambiguous or undefined problems; ability to think abstractly and guide others

  • Comfortable performing requirements analysis, interfacing with stakeholders of various levels and documenting solutions

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to articulate technical topics to non-technical audiences both in writing, in diagrams and person

  • Demonstrable knowledge of DevOps in an Enterprise setting, both on the public cloud (AWS) and on-premise

  • Strong leadership acumen

  • Energetic team player who works well across boundaries and readily adapts to change and enjoys rapid development

  • Confident of your skills, abilities and willing to share what you know, while learning from others
