The Planning and Procurement Platform Manager works closely with Business and Functional teams to evaluate business drivers and complex technology requirements, and defines complex systems strategies and specifications tailored to meet business requirements. The Planning and Procurement Platform Manager acts as a primary point of contact with the business on behalf of the application development organization. In this capacity, the Planning and Procurement Platform Manager is also a leader for change and process improvement. Additionally, the incumbent participates in system testing, training, implementation, and support, coordinating and facilitating requirements to deliver a complete application service to the business.

ThePlanning and Procurement Platform Managerwill manage offshore resources dedicated to maintaining and supporting the technology platforms. This role will need to have the ability toimpact/influence internal and external teams.

Provides guidance, coaching and constructive feedback to a team within the latitude of established company policy.

The Platform Manager will be responsible for the smooth transition exiting Pearson to the stand alone target state. He or she will be responsible for recommending the most optimal strategy that aligns with the guiding principles of the separation program.


  • Responsible for the safe delivery of all Application Changes and Releases.

  • Ensure operational readiness for the delivery of all future strategic enhancements.

  • Work Supportively & Collaboratively with Business Owners, Testing & Delivery Counterparts

  • Work closely and interactively with the business as a primary point of contact for the complex application organization; develops and maintains an understanding of key business drivers and impacts. Assists clients with identifying and solving business challenges.

  • Facilitate analysis of complex functional requirements and design of technology specifications, working with business/functional personnel and capturing requirements through interactive sessions with clients.

  • Define functional design and complex systems specifications and prepare and deliver system specification packages to applications development team.

  • Work closely with application development personnel, working effectively in multiple delivery models (onsite, outsource, offshore), as appropriate.

  • Participate and provide guidance to Business and Functional Units in developing and completing system testing, training, and implementation-related activities.

  • Participate in the development of project proposals and related financial planning, including analysis and development of business case (cost/benefit) analysis.

  • Work closely with Project Manager, providing input into project planning, scheduling, and budgeting.

  • Coordinate project activities and schedules with client in support of service delivery / project objectives.

  • Use and advocate established standards, guidelines and tools; seek and introduce new tools and best practices as part of continuous improvement methodology.

  • Maintain relationships with vendors, consultants or contractors, and professional organizations to grow organizational knowledge of processes, software, and systems.



  • BA in Computer Science or equivalent experience managing enterprise technology.

  • Strong familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning ERP with emphasis in the Materials Resource planning and procurement

  • 5 years managing enterprise platforms is required

  • 5 years relevant experience and proven ability or appropriate training to supervise or manage others.

  • PMP or Change Management certifications are preferred.


  • Experience and knowledge of Materials Management including Planning and Procurement processes

  • Responsible for the safe delivery of all Application Changes and Releases

  • Ability to work effectively in teams is required. Includes instances where team membership spans multiple business units, locations or countries, and/or utilizes 3rd-party (offshore) resources.

  • Must be systems-oriented, enjoy working with new tools and be a self-motivated learner.

  • Must be able to work with senior management in developing and implementing new processes and enabling systems

  • Strong listening, and oral/written communications skills, includes the ability to facilitate interactive sessions with business / functional teams.
