Due to recent growth, Pearson Lanka is currently seeking aSystems Engineer – Windows, to be primarily responsible for managing allaspects of configuring, monitoring, maintaining, and troubleshooting productionservers and handling requests and problem escalations from Service Desk andother departments.

Reporting to Associate Manager – Systems Engineering, youwill collaborate with a range of technical functions including Networks,Database, Software & Quality Engineering, Technical Product Management andVendors. Together, you will work towards identifying and diagnosing complextechnical issues and taking the necessary steps to troubleshoot and/or resolvewith minimal disruption to customers.

Based in Orion City, Colombo, you will evaluate and applysoftware/firmware upgrades and support packs as required to solve productionproblems and/or ensure compliance and system integrity.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, IT or any other equivalentqualification

  • Advanced experience designing, building and administratingcomplex Windows platforms

  • Experience managing the operation of large-scale Enterprise andCloud infrastructure, Databases, and application systems with high-availabilityrequirements

  • Administration experience of IIS 6 & 7 with exposure to IIS8

  • Some experience or exposure to multiple cloud providers such asAzure, vCloud & AWS

  • Administration experience on Apache / Tomcat / WAMP / GlassFishweb/app services

  • Experience using PowerShell to automate repeatable work

  • Experience in scripting with Batch, VB, Perl & WMI

  • Sound analytical and troubleshooting skills

  • Outstanding communication skills

  • Customer-centric mindset

  • 24x 5 Availability for shift rotation

  • 24x7 Availability in case of emergencies

  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) (preferable)

  • Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) (preferable)(preferable)

  • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate - (MCSA) - ServerInfrastructure (preferable)

  • ITIL – Foundation (preferable)

  • AWS certification (preferable)
