Location: Boston/Centennial Colorado

The User Experience Researcher isresponsible for bringing the user’s voice to our strategic product developmentefforts at Pearson Higher Education, and is considered the resident subjectmatter expert on our user’s needs, goals, motivations and desires. As the User Experience Researcher, you willcollaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, problem solving as an embeddedand invested member of our product design teams. This role requires a Researcher who has experienceand competency with UX processes and methodologies. You will work with guidanceto scope projects and develop research plans and roadmaps. Your primaryresponsibilities are planning, conducting, analyzing, and reporting onuser-centered design research for a range of higher education products.


●Contribute as a member of a team that solves user problems through User Centered Design process.

●Recommends appropriate methodologies depending on insight objectives.

●Consults with designers, product managers, developers, prototypers and other team members to design, script, conduct and report user research that delivers appropriate and timely insights to the product design process.

●Use heuristic/qualitative/quantitative methods.

●Interprets results, and data to identify UX issues. Communicates results and recommendations in a timely and easily consumable format.

●Measure the effectiveness of user experience improvements and collaborate with other teams to measure improvements.



●MA/MS degree or equivalent in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Cognitive or Experimental Psychology, or a related field.

●A minimum of 2 years work experience as a UXR in an enterprise or consumer facing company collecting user data for online interfaces is typically required.

●Two (2) years direct experience with user experience research methodologies such as card sorting, usability testing, ethnographic research, customer interviews, surveys and focus groups.

●Two (2) or more years of experience as a usability test facilitator or moderator, with a demonstrated professional demeanor and an ability to put research participants at ease.

●Experience participating in multi-disciplinary teams, facilitating the research agenda, and conducting user experience research in an agile development process.

●Experience conducting mobile research. (smart phones/tablets/native apps/online mobile sites)

●Knowledge of data analytics

●Knowledge of accessibility guidelines a plus

●Test methodselection, experimental design, screener creation, moderating (contextualinquiry, usability testing, participatory design, card sorting, focus groupsetc) surveys, online moderation, diary studies, ethnography,statistical/quantitative/qualitative analysis, persona development, siteanalytics, reporting and presentations (verbal and written).Accessibility research knowledge abonus

●Well versed in user-centered design methods and best practices.

●Work well in an environment with onsite and remote teams.

●Independent self-starter

●Experience preparing and making formal presentations/reviews.
